Dry Needling Heerenveen

Effective Treatment of Trigger Points

Dry needling is an effective technique for treating muscle knots (trigger points). With thin needles, tense muscle fibers are released, providing immediate relief from pain and muscle tension. At Groen's Fitness Forge I apply this technique as part of a complete treatment.

When is Dry Needling Suitable?

Trigger Points

Painful knots in your muscles that refer pain to other areas.

Chronic Muscle Tension

Muscles that are constantly tense despite rest and stretching.

Movement Restriction

Stiffness and limited movement due to hardened muscles.

How Does Dry Needling Work?

With dry needling, I use sterile, thin needles that are placed in the trigger point. This causes a local muscle reaction (twitch response) that relaxes the tense muscle fibers. The treatment is short but effective. I always combine dry needling with other techniques and exercises for the best results.

Frequently Asked Questions About Dry Needling

Does dry needling hurt?

You feel a brief prick when the needle is inserted. The twitch response (muscle reaction) can be briefly uncomfortable but passes quickly. Most people find the treatment very tolerable.

What's the difference with acupuncture?

Dry needling is based on Western anatomy and physiology and specifically targets muscle knots. Acupuncture is based on Traditional Chinese Medicine. The techniques and goals differ.

How many treatments do I need?

This varies per person. Often 2-4 dry needling sessions are sufficient, combined with exercise therapy. After the intake, I'll give you an indication.
