Ankle & Foot Problems Heerenveen

Physiotherapy & Rehabilitation

Your ankles and feet carry your entire body. Problems here can affect your knees, hips, and back. From sprained ankles and plantar fasciitis to Achilles tendon issues - at Groen's Fitness Forge I help you stand strong in your shoes again.

Do You Recognize These Symptoms?

Ankle Pain

Pain and/or instability after a sprain. The feeling that your ankle might give way.

Heel Spur / Foot Pain

Sharp pain under your foot, especially with the first steps in the morning (plantar fasciitis).

Achilles Tendon Problems

Pain and stiffness in your Achilles tendon, especially when starting after rest or during exercise.

My Approach to Ankle and Foot Problems

I start with a thorough analysis of your complaint, but also look at your gait pattern and footwear. Treatment consists of a combination of hands-on techniques, taping if needed, and a progressive exercise program. For runners or athletes, we also look at training progression to prevent recurrence.

Why Choose My Approach?

Gait Analysis

Assessment of your walking pattern for optimal treatment

Sports-Focused

Focus on return to running and sport

Prevention

Preventing recurring ankle sprains

Ankle problems are often underestimated. A 'simple' sprain can lead to chronic instability if not properly treated. With the right approach and exercises, we can prevent this and make your ankle stronger than before.

Frequently Asked Questions About Ankle and Foot Problems

How long does recovery from a sprained ankle take?

A mild sprain usually recovers within 2-4 weeks. More severe sprains can take 6-12 weeks. Rehabilitation is important to prevent recurrence.

What is plantar fasciitis?

This is inflammation of the connective tissue under your foot. It causes typical sharp pain at the heel, especially with the first steps in the morning.

Do I need custom footwear?

Sometimes yes, sometimes no. I assess your foot position and gait pattern and advise on footwear or orthotics if needed.
